You're How Old??

Ok, so I won't say, but my good friend Allyson's birthday is today, so she deserves a post. I hope you have a wonderful day today! :)

8 Weeks

Griblet got his first picture taken today! It was so exciting, moving, emotional, etc all at the same time when we saw the little heart beating! It is still weird to me and I can't believe that I am pregnant, but I guess it will kick in sooner or later. :)
The ultrasound is very blurry (as they all are) but it he seems healthy and doing good. We should be hearing from the doctor if there is anything that we need to know, so no news is good news right now.
I can't wait to get the next one done to see how much he grows. I could have sat there all day and watched his little heart beat and wiggle around; it was like he was saying hi to me or something. lol
It's amazing how much you can love someone you haven't even officially met, yet! God is Great, isn't he??!!

New Project

Actually, it's not really all that "new" but I just forgot to blog about it at the time. I bought this chair from Goodwill for only $25 in mid-May when Paige was in town visiting. We both agreed that it would be so much fun to get into refinishing furniture, so this is going to be my "test piece" to see if I am even any good at it.
Here is the before picture. I am in the process of working on it now (along with a million other projects) so when it is done I will post the after picture. I plan to paint it an off white/ivory color, rebuild the seat since it is falling apart, and get some pretty fabric from one of these sites:
http://www.pinkchalkfabrics.com/
http://www.sewmamasew.com/
http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-retro-fabric-cool-fabric-anna-s-drawing-room-fabric.aspx
Hopefully it cools down a bit outside (to atleast under 100 degrees!) so I can stand being out there longer than a few minutes at a time! Anyhoo... I hope it turns out as good as I plan.

What about the kids???!!

Last night was the last night that I will be watching "Jon and Kate plus 8". I find it so sad and selfish that they have chosen the show over their marriage. Although there are rumors of infidelity, they have denied all of them so obviously they chose not to work through their issues (even if it was an affair, or two) for the health of their family because that would mean forfeiting the show and fame.
I had such high hopes for them since the beginning. they seemed like such Christian loving parents. I even defended them when people would make comments about how "they won't last if with a show like that..." etc. I guess they proved me wrong!
Kate is too in throbbed in her book tours, photo shoots, speaking engagements, and tanning and plastic surgery, and Jon is too bottled up to say that he hates the spot light. Is money really worth losing your spouse and the stability for your kids who already live a crazy life? I feel so bad for those babies! I see Kate coming out in the twin Maddy, and it isn't pretty! I really hope that the ratings go so low that they have to quit the show anyways... maybe then they will realize what they had and work it out.

High Chair

Ive had a few people asking questions about the high chair. Here is a cool little video (It's a bit cheezy, so bare with me) that shows all of the different settings:

First things "baby"

Thanks to Grandma Gribnau and Jeff's parents, Barbara & Ronnie, we made our first purchases for the baby this weekend!
The Bassinet:

The high chair:

This one is awesome! It is 4 chairs in 1... A high chair, Toddler seat, Booster seat, and Feeder seat. I love love love it! We will be able to use it throughout the child's growth and you can use it for 2 kids at some point. I highly recommend it so far!

Time to start planning the nursery....

My Latest Piece...

My parents wanted me to do another Magnolia painting (like the one that I entered into our church's auction back in March) for them. Sadly it has taken me this long to get to it, but here it is. I think it turned out ok, of course, being the artist, I see all of the flaws. I have named it "The Magnolia, Two"...

Goin' to the Chapel...

My wonderful friend Rachel from College is Engaged!!! We were roommates for 2 years, and to be honest, I dont think I could have lived with anyone else; we made some great memories! She is so special to me and I can't wait to see her in a few weeks to celebrate her engagement. I am so excited for her! I love to give her a hard time for all of her boy issues, but I'm sure glad she finally gave Ricky a chance. I know she is going to be very happy! :)

For those dieters out there...

Got an interesting email... I knew this was true but I didn't know the exact numbers. Makes you think twice before you drink:

You Are What You Drink

Americans are consuming a large number of calories daily from sugary drinks. When you consider that an appropriately sized meal is anywhere from 400 to 700 calories, and one Super Size Coca Cola from McDonald’s has a whopping 410 calories, you start to see the extent of the problem. And, it's not just soft drinks. A 16-ounce Starbucks Frappuccino is 470 calories and a 20-ounce bottle of apple juice contains almost 300 calories. An extra can of soda a day, which has 150 calories and 10 teaspoons of sugar, can pile on 15 pounds in a single year. The problem with calories from fluids is that they do not make us feel full, so we consume more and, as a result, gain more weight. When thirst strikes, grab a bottle of water and skip the calories.

2 Years!

Today Jeff and I celebrate our 2 year anniversary. I can not believe how time flies. A lot has happened in the past 2 years that we can be thankful for; We moved to Louisiana where we have made some wonderful friends, bought a beautiful house, became an aunt and uncle to our beautiful niece Annelise, went on some wonderful vacations, and now are parents! I can't believe how much God has blessed us. I can't wait to see what the next 60+ years have in store!
I love you, Jeffrey :)

Baby Gribnau's first Blog

I set up a blog here for you to keep track of what is going on in my "pregnancy world".
(In case you were wondering, the baby has already been deemed the nickname "Griblet" at Jeff's work. I think it's kinda cute, so that is how the name came about. )
It is going to be really nice to be able to journal what is going on, how I am feeling, and any milestones that we hit. I hope you have fun watching the progress! :)

Exciting News!

So I know that I have been MIA on the whole "blogging" thing for the past couple of weeks. We went to St. Thomas (which was amazing!!) and then I was in Houston for a week helping my mom with their house remodel, so now I am finally back into the groove and I have the best news to share: I'M PREGNANT!!!I found out last week and wanted to wait to share the news until I got confirmation with my doctor. My appointment was at 1:30 today and I got to see my little Peanut on the ultrasound screen; I told the doctor that I really did not feel pregnant and it all just didnt feel real, so I really wanted to see it to believe it. She did the ultrasound (which it's a little too early to get a conclusive look, since I am only 6 weeks in) and there is definitely a baby!! I couldn't believe that that was me on that screen! It is the most amazing and magical feeling!I really dont think it will feel real until I start seeing a baby bump.
I took a picture to show my belly (which is stepping WAY over my line of self confidence, but I guess I better get used to it!) last week after I took the at home tests to start my scrapbook.
I will be starting a blog on www.babiesonline.com to track the progress, so once I get it up and running, I will post the link here.
