Season 5 is over :(
The episode was pretty amazing! They have opened a whole new "can of worms" when it comes to questions. Here is my attempt to list all of my outstanding questions and comments in as best of an order as I can get them:
1.Jacob makes the point to say in the beginning that "there is only one ending, everything that happens prior is just progress." I take this to mean that You can not change the future.
2. Jacob also never ages and shows up everywhere. Where did he come from? Why are these characters special? Why choose them? Why does he heal some people (John) and not others (Nadia)?
3. Who is the guy wearing the black shirt at the beginning? He is obviously Jacob's enemy. Jacob was wearing white; are they supposed to represent good vs. evil?
4. I am really sad that my theory that John Locke is Jacob did not pan out. It did in a way, though, since the bad guy took over Locke's body...
5. Richard is the only character that shows up in 1977 and present time
6. I was so glad that they found Rose and Bernard and they have been taking care of Vincent! They have sure turned into a bunch of hippies, though! I am happy for them.
7. Who does Radensky think he is, taking control of everyone and everything?!
8. If John is not John and the bad guy is using his body, how does he have all of John's memories, thoughts, and feelings?
9. Obviously the other passengers from the Ajira flight are working for Jacob, this is why "Locke" wants to kill them
10. Why can't the bad guy kill Jacob himself?
11. What did they mean by "candidate" when referring to Lapidus?
12. How did John's body get into the cargo crate? Is someone working for the "black shirt guy"?
13. How did "black shirt guy" go about taking over Locke's body? I would love to see that!
14. Obviously "black shirt guy" orchestrates the whole thing! He is the one that tells Richard to tell John that he would have to get everyone back to the island and would have to die to do it. This is when he is able to take over his body, causing the chain of events to start
15. The Ship at the beginning is possibly the Black Rock. Maybe when it got close to the island it traveled back in time to the Egyptian time.
16. The "war" that has been mentioned is not between Widmore and Ben, as we thought, it is between Jacob and "black shirt guy" which could also mean good vs. evil
17. Jacob knew that Ben had come to kill him and he know that it was "black shirt guy" in John's body. How did he know that? Why didn't he stop Ben?
18. what's the deal with the loop hole?
19. Whoever built the Dharma houses knew about the Temple since there was access through the house
20. I can't believe they killed Sayid!!! I hope he gets healed or isn't really dead
21. What is the significance of the cabin and the ash?
22. The guy that is with Elana is the same guy that kidnapped Miles in the van and told him not to go to the island
23. I thought it was kinda lame that Jin had to write down is vows at their wedding... it was only like 2 lines! lol
24. Juliet is such a girl! I hate all of that unnecessary drama that she had to throw in there about not having to lose Sawyer. He said he loved her, so she should believe him and stop being dumb!
25. I didn't like Juliet but I didnt want her to die. I feel bad for Sawyer!
26. It's about time that Jack and Sawyer got into a fist fight! It was hilarious to watch Jack stumble around in the background after the fight!
27. Who is Christian!! Where is Claire!!!
28. Why did Jacob have a guitar? I think that he brought it to Hurley so that when Hurley is back on the island in 1977 he can place it in the woods where he knew that Locke could find it for Charlie, back in season 1. Hurley always missed Charley and probably does this to make him feel good
29. Did the bomb explosion blow up the statue?
30. I like Miles' theory. I was thinking it all along and so when he said it I was really happy!
31. When Jacob dies, he says "They're coming." Who was he talking about? Elana and his other helpers?
Check out Stori and Laura's reviews, too. They have some pretty good input.
Anybody still out there?

What do you mean?
It did in a way, though, since the bad guy took over Locke's body...
When did this happen?
1. I think it means the opposite of that. :)
2. He can't be a real person, he has to be a God or some God-like creature. I think that the Smoke monster/Shape Shifter/MIB is another demon spirit. Elysha thinks maybe Jacob created the Smoke Monster, like God created Satan.
3. He's some guy who the Smoke Monster/Demon spirit is taking the shape of, maybe he was a Leader at one time. I have my doubts that Jacob is good...
4. Me too :(. I thought the same thing! Although I'm kind of glad that we didn't figure everything out. :)
7. Do you think he feels guilty and that's why he kills himself later on?
8. He's an omnipresent demon spirit who knows everything, just like Jacob.
9. YES! I didn't think of that.
10. Jacob created him maybe?
11. Candidate for Leader?
13. I don't think he took over the body, I just think he shape shifted into Locke's body, he and the Smoke Monster are one and the same. There are some holes to my theory, but I need to rewatch the series to figure stuff out, you know?
15. If that's the Black Rock, then how did it into the middle of the Island?
19. You're right! I never thought of that.
20. Me too!
21. I forgot about that. Do you think it was to keep Smokey out? I don't think it was ever Jacob's home, the statue always had been. But Smokey was pretending it was Jacob's cabin and impersonating "messinger's from Jacob" like Christian, and Jacob wanted him to stop so he set up the ash so that Smokey couldn't cross?
24. "The heart has reasons that reason has not."
27. Christian is just Smokey. Smokey was taking Christian's shape and claiming to be "Jacob's messenger." I don't know if he can be Claire and Christian at the same time, that's one of the flaws in my theory.
28. Good memory!
31. It's Lost, that's too straight forward for Lost! :)
1. Real quick - do you remember how they keep mentioning that Jacob hates progress earlier in the series? I don't know what this means compared to what he said. What do you think it means?
Also, what about Jacob's "What about you?" comment to Ben. What the heck did that mean?
Jacob's comment "what about you?", was sarcasm, pointing out to Ben his obvious lack of merit to earn any special privileges. Jacob also knew (I think) that this comment would shame and anger Ben into doing what he was supposed to do.
who is "lp"?
LOST THE END
What a total let down!
I find it hard to believe the wroters of Lost managed to pitch this as their ending when they first appraoched abc to kick off this show back before they got the go ahead to make the series.
The whole series upto the last season was excellent, the best show on tv.
But this!! this season was dire and the ending was a cop out, a hurried, unthought out, piece of total crap!!
The whole series had developed the love trianlge between jack sawyer and kete, then in the final we are expected to believe sawyer has fallen for juliet, we cannot believe it because the history was not there!!\
and as for JACOB We still dont know WHO HE IS!!
We may know hes played by an uncharismatic young actor who sits doing sowing in a cave and lives under i giant foot but whop is he!!!?
and what happened to jacks dad and claire??
total let down!!!!!!
a BETRAYAL!!
YES THE FINALE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED THE BETRAYAL
THE BETRAYAL OF THE LOYAL AUDIENCE!
ps
the blowing up at the end by juliet would have been acceptable if it were not for ALL THE PREVIOUS LAST MINUTE CHARACTER CHANGES OF THE KEY PLAYERS
BEN BECOMES UNKNOWING
JACOB IS LIKE A SEAMSTRESS
LOCK PLAYS HIMSELF YET IS SOMEONE ELSE.
CLAIRE AND JACKS DAD - UNRESOLVED MOTIVES +AWOL
NO MYSTERY NO GRAVITAS NO POINT IN THE BUILDING OF THE ENIGMA
A TOTAL TEARING DOWN OF ALL THE MYSTIC OF THE SHOWS PREMISE.
please do a directors RE cut and totaly re write the season finale
you owe it too yourselves!!!!!!
lock should have been jacob!!!!!!
and HE LOCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOING TO KILL AN IMPOSTER
and......
there should have been reloveving flashes back AFTER THE EXPLOSION
Showing all ok even chalie
every character
only lock missing and he becoming part of th black smoke over the island in a massive brilliant speacial effect the smoke into turning white clouds now he WAS FINALLY HOME AND HAPPY.
and...
locke finally reunited with his real father and his now dead mother
in other words the whole reason for this would have been resovling of lockes terrible life and his journey to God, all the othet humans being a part of his journey and his real father wanted him to be called JACOB.
Well it would have been better than the poor excuse for THE ENDING they gave us.
and..
darmha and the island itself its purpose and reason for existing is too help peaple like locke.
its a conduit of miracles, of Gods miracles.
and all that happened on the islands, it's discovery by those who were there darma the others etc attracted by its obvious strange powers the same story could be there as it was but ,
as far as our introduction to the main characters and lockes 'story
the island was to resolve lockes life.
as for the ever young mysterious richard alpert HE IS AN ANGEL.
And every other characters bad lives are a sacrifice they chose subconsciously to make to be able to part of helping another individual on their journey .
In other words after the explosion of the island (it would be better is kate was down the hole with jack and sawyer above before she pulled the nucleur button) - in other words because kate was part of this team who had made a choice to be avaialable help others in this case LOCKE she would have not ended up arrested again when the island blew up
for this was resolved as her lfe and arrest was only part of the trials she would have to go through to be part of the rescue of lockes terrible life - it was this way because of the evil that was trying to stop good beng sdone to people
this evil manifested itself in the form of the evil force on the island- the force that posed as jacob and the black smoke etc
the island was a repisentation of a focal point of good vs evil
the stroy of lost would then hve been about human interactions and how God works using other people to help eachother
LOST WOULD THEN AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN LOCKES STORY.
AND ALL THE OTHER CHARACTERS INVOLVEMENT IN WORKING OUT JUSTICE FOR LOCKE.
THEY ALL THE CHARACTERS JACK BEN SAWYER KATE ET ALL WOULD BE UNBEKNOWN TO THEMSELVES PART OF GODS PLAN AT RESCUING LOCKE.
oH AND JACKS DAD AND KATE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN JACOBS CABIN TO HOLD BACK THE EVIL IMPOSTER THAT CLMIAMED TO BE JACOB FOR LOCKE WAS JACOB.
INFACT THE EVIL IMPOSTER COULD HAVE MANIFESTED ITSLF AS LOCKE AT ONE POINT
AND THAT IS WHY
claire said dont bring locke back to the island because she knew lockes body was being possesed.
although she knew the real locke should be jacob because clair was dead and told so , but she was not to tell anyone else.
the same goes for jacks father he was dead and was privy to locke being the reason for all their being there. but he too could not divulge that fact, they just had to play their part in working towards justice for locke.
as all the other characters were too.
all the bad stuff in other other characters lives would be reversed once all was achieved after the blowing up of the island.
By the way the evil imposter is a force its not a man.
LOL, sorry you didn't like it. I really liked it. One of the things that I love about the show is that my predictions are always 100% WRONG, so I get to keep guessing for next season! It makes it fun for me. I need to rewatch the old seasons again though to see if I agree with you that it was a betrayal.
